Vodafone has announced the launch of the Vodafone 150 at a minimal price of Rs.700. This is the cheapest basic phone in India ever. The Vodafone 150 candy bar designed handset comes with a dual-band GSM, polyphonic ringtones, an alarm clock, currency converter and a built-in torch. It is available in black and comes with a warranty of a year.

This dirty cheap handset features a standard lithium-ion battery that provides up to five hours of talk time and a whopping 400 hours of standby time. Its phonebook capacity is of 100 entries and it also maintains a database of missed, dialled and received calls. Vodafone 150 also features a scheduler using which we can manage our daily works. In addition, the phone also comes with many petite features like predictive text Input, an internal antenna, an alarm clock, a vibrating alert and a feature to set specific caller tunes.
With that kind of a price, do not expect anything above messaging and calling with this latest offering from Vodafone. It lacks a digital camera, music player, FM radio, GPRS and Bluetooth. It is one of those keep it simple stupid cellphones meant for the very sole purpose of talking. Though, at a price tag of Rs.700, no-one would expect those features.
Verdict
The phone is initially being launched in India, Turkey and eight other African countries. Given the cheap price, it will appeal to the rural areas and the seemingly unlimited standby of 400 hours and talktime of 4 hours, it will appeal to students and job employees who can have all the talk they want.
