I have been an Airtel customer for four years now, and I don’t know why, but I still stick to it. Maybe because all my friends have Airtel, as for otherwise, their service is hated by all. Airtel has also joined the 3G rat race and has brought 3G to its customers at competitive rates.
Airtel has all its 3G information summed up in one single page which resides here. You can select your circle and the page will give you availability and charges for 3G in the region. Surprisingly, the website does not list Kolkata though, 3G seems to have been launched here already.
Airtel has a huge customers base in India. With star-endorsements and event sponsorships, Airtel has managed to maintain its brand value over some years now. The 3G plans from Airtel are listed below. I have aggregated the data for Bengaluru circle in this image. It will be similar across all other circles.
Airtel 3G Postpaid and Prepaid Plans
The one plan I liked in Airtel 3G is the Flexi shield plan that protects you from incurring shocking billings when using 3G data. Although the shield is set a bit high at Rs. 2000, hey! at least it exists. As for otherwise, these rates seem to have become a standard with 3G plans. The 2 GB plan we are accustomed to, costs Rs. 750 and a 100 MB costs Rs. 100. Prepaid and postpaid prices are same for 3G data usage.
How to Activate 3G in Airtel?
To activate 3G on your Airtel phone, simply send an SMS to 121 with the text 3G.
