Windows 7 prices have recently been declared. Although declared prices are quite less than that of vista, but at around $300, it is not really too less for people like us, for students in a “developing country”.

So, here is what it would cost you to get a fully maintained and up-to-date PC up and running with the latest suites.

1. Operating System ::

   Windows 7 would be the first choice for an OS at the moment given it’s hype, positive review and it’s success over vista. Microsoft recently quoted the price for windows 7 at $199.99 for HOME PREMIUM and $399.99 for ULTIMATE. That is $399.99 added to your cart.

2. An office suite ::

   An office suite will pull you to Microsoft office for a full feature packed service and better UI and technical support. Priced at $149.95 for the HOME and STUDENTS edition, and $679.95 for the ULTIMATE edition it sounds “money for value”, yes the other way around. That is $679.95 added to your cart, summing up to a total of $1079.94.

3. A tuning software ::
   

   Then, you need a software to fine tune you system for optimal performance, lets face it windows does not provide all the utilities to do that unlike most think. I would opt for Tuneup-Utilities.    Finally if you are a developer, visual studio is a really good tool to work with. It really makes development faster and has support for the latest technologies in the development market. So, that is a final $650 added to you cart, summing to a total of $2509.83.

Give or take a $ 200 to that and you end up with $2700. Well, in that case, a free alternative comes like a lifeboat, but going around in a cruiser has it’s own charm I guess!
